Halloween: Star Wars Edition

Thankfully Mel puts up with my Star Wars nerdiness, otherwise i'd be in big trouble. Once again we decided that Halloween was the perfect excuse to make some Star Wars costumes.

So for this year, we decided that Milo is the perfect size and age that he could go as an Ewok for Halloween. Mel got to work on taking a bear from the DI and cutting it open to use as the base for the suit. We were lucky that the DI had two bears of the same kind, because one bear wasn't big enough, and it took Mel's creativity to piece the two together to make all the legs and arms the right sizes. Then with some crafty sowing, she added the lighter colored fur,and sowed on the hood. Doesn't this little guy look so cute?

So, just to state what to me is obvious, Mel is amazing! She made all of our costumes, with only a little bit of help from Milo and me. They turned out so good! Mel is Princess Leia on Endor, and I am Luke Skywalker on Endor. It was good that we actually had these ponchos though, because of the rain.
We were really bummed when it started pouring rain right before we were going to take Milo out around the neighborhood trick-or-treating. So we drove to Gma Lelis's to say hello, and then made our way to our party at Nate and Danielle's house.
When we got to the party, the rain had died down, so we decided to take the kids out. I was really anxious to see how Milo would take the trick-or-treating experience. Turns out he really enjoyed it! Plus he was able to use his awesome bag: a clone trooper helmet. We got it at Kohls on the discount rack after Easter (because it's actually an Easter basket). Milo was so good to hold it and stand at the doors as they gave him candy. The first house he didn't know what was going on. But by the end he knew the drill, and was really having fun with it. Plus he was being really good and made sure to use his manners, by signing "thank you" at each house.
Such a cute little guy.

Here are all the great costumes from our friends. We think everyone did a great job with their costumes, making it really fun.

Milo was really pretty good all night having on the heat suit Ewok costume. All until we took the group pictures, because he really just wanted to play with this toy vacuum. He is really into vacuuming.

Finally when we took off the Ewok costume, we saw how sweaty Milo was.
We also made some delicious cake pops for the party. We decorated some ghosts and pumpkins for the occasion.
